Is Kevin Costner's Hatfields & McCoys worth streaming?
Some 12 years after its premiere on the History Channel, Kevin Costner and Bill Paxton's?Hatfields & McCoys?is now streaming on Prime Video, and for those wondering if it's worth a watch, I definitely recommend it. It's certainly not a perfect show, as it is a little slow in parts, but both Costner and Paxton turn in fantastic performances, the exploration of the very real feud is quite intriguing, and when tensions explode, they do so in exciting ways.
What did you think of Landman episode 4?
Landman?episode 4 had some decent character moments, but overall, it feels like the weakest episode so far. That's just the byproduct of being shorter and having fewer plot-focused scenes than the previous three, as it certainly wasn't bad. I'm still waiting for Demi Moore to do something in the series, and the lack of Jon Hamm was pretty disappointing, but Billy Bob Thornton is still entertaining enough to make it worthwhile.
What did you think of Dune: Prophecy episode 3?
While I'm happy that the series is finally giving more time to Valya and Tula, episode 3 has been my least favorite so far. Without the characters from the Imperial Palace, I felt like the show suffered in its dramatic appeal. Something foundational just doesn't seem to be working with the storytelling, as it all feels very contrived and geared toward exposition; none of the characters in episode 3 felt particularly alive. I'm still hoping?Dune: Prophecy?can turn things around, but the characters are a weak point in the series so far.?
Is Paramount+'s spy drama The Agency worth watching?
Just watched the first two episodes of?The Agency and am really impressed. There's quite a few stars, some of which you¡¯ll IMDb, no doubt, but we should all know Richard Gere and Michael Fassbender. Reminds me of Berlin Station, nothing flashy, just a really good script and cast. Really looking forward to seeing how this pans out. Worth your attention if you¡¯re a TV head like me.
How do you feel about Liz's betrayal in Shrinking season 2?
Apple TV+'s Shrinking is one of the best streaming series, but recent episodes featured a betrayal by one of the characters. Liz cheated on her husband, Derek, which I did not see coming at all. While it was just a kiss, Derek has always been so nice to her, and she is often not to him, so this is just one more thing that he has had to deal with. And of course, he seems to get over it far too quickly because he is such a good guy. She has her motivations, and yes, she did reach out for help, but I am not yet ready to forgive her.
Do you think Wilson hallucinated the ending of House?
There is a popular fan theory that the ending of?House?was hallucinated by James Wilson, which is an interesting idea. While the show's creator, David Shore, has said it wasn't an idea he had in mind, this doesn't mean it's completely wrong either. Hypothetically, if?House?was ever revived, this theory could be used. Wilson was dying at the end of?House, and it wouldn't be that strange if the decline in his health manipulated his mind.
Is The Day Of The Jackal worth streaming?
Peacock's The Day of the Jackal has become quite a streaming success. Both critics and audiences praise the cast, in particular, lead Eddie Redmayne. The series is thrilling and exciting, as it follows a spy who is a master of disguise and an elite sniper. Each episode gets better and better. The more I get to know about the Jackal, the more I become captivated with him. The supporting cast is great, but Redmayne truly steals the show.?
Which older sci-fi TV shows do you still find entertaining?
Science fiction television has changed hugely over the years, but especially in the last decade or so. However, there are some older shows that are still worth checking out, even if they aren't as up to scratch as more recent titles. I still find?Torchwood?quite entertaining, although only seasons 1 and 2. I really liked the formulaic pattern of it, but it went wrong by killing off too many characters in a short timeframe.?Farscape, The Twilight Zone, Bayblon 5,?Star Trek: The Next Generation, and?Red Dwarf?are some of my other go-tos as well.
Could Homelander win in The Boys season 5?
Antony Starr's Homelander has more or less won at the end of every season of The Boys, with the show having major developments but most keeping its status quo going each year. However, since season 5 is the superhero satire's final season, The Boys can finally decide to kill Homelander. While I think that is going to happen in the show's series finale, I believe that Homelander will have a partial win, taking Butcher and perhaps a few others alongside him when he goes down.
Who is Phoebe's worst love interest in Friends?
Phoebe Buffay has some brilliant love interests in?Friends, such as Mike and David, but she also has some terrible ones, too. I personally hated Sean Penn's Eric. I still don't understand what she saw in him, other than the fact she felt sorry for him because he was engaged to Ursula. Her cop boyfriend Gary (Michael Rapaport) wasn't a bad character, but there was something about him that was unsettling. He was nice to Phoebe, but whenever I rewatch these episodes, I can't help but feel like his relationship with her is off.
Do you think The Big Bang Theory universe will avoid a Young Penny spin-off because of Kaley Cuoco's show 8 Simple Rules?
While I hope the rumored Penny Big Bang Theory?spin-off focuses on her childhood, like?Young Sheldon, I wouldn't complain if it follows a different stage of her life, either. I recently learned about a show named?8 Simple Rules, which Kaley Cuoco starred in years ago, and I was intrigued at the parallels between Penny and Beach. Others have suggested that the links in their backstories might stop?TBBT's creators from delving into Penny's youth, although I think it would be very strange for them to do that, purely because Cuoco has portrayed a similar character before.?
Is the One Chicago franchise on its last legs?
While?Chicago P.D., Chicago Med,?and?Chicago Fire?are still on the air, it's starting to feel like the shows in the One Chicago franchise are struggling. While I don't know if the Dick Wolf shows all need to end, I don't think they should go on longer than necessary. If the shows can be re-invigorated, I'd love to see it.
Which Star Wars villain deserves their own series most?
So many?Star Wars?villains?deserve to have their own live-action, or animated, series. A few of my top contenders would naturally be Darth Maul and Darth Vader. I feel like there's lots of potential for Vader and Maul to have shows set during the early days of the Empire, either with Vader further embracing the dark side post-Revenge of the Sith, as he does in the comics, or Maul ruling the criminal underworld with Crimson Dawn. That said, a Kylo Ren series either before The Force Awakens or between The Last Jedi?and? The Rise of Skywalker?could be very exciting as well.
What Game of Thrones character would you like to see lead a spinoff?
House of the Dragon season 1 was fantastic, and while season 2 was not as great, I still love that HBO decided to continue the Game of Thrones universe through spinoffs. As such, I'm looking forward to A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms, which debuts in 2025, and any other possible spinoffs. In that regard, I would love to see Kit Harington and HBO work out an exciting story to bring back their idea of a Jon Snow sequel series, as he was my favorite GOT character. Others, like Arya Stark and Ned Stark, could also lead spinoffs.
Do you sympathize more with Yellowstone's Beth or Jamie Dutton?
It's a tough conversation to have, as I feel like?Yellowstone?is generally oriented more toward aligning with Beth. The incident in flashbacks that made her hate him makes Jamie irredeemable, so it would be fair to say her actions are more justifiable. However, I think it's important to note the difference in how John treats them and how that's shaped their characters.?
What fantasy show has done the best job at replacing Game of Thrones?
The void left by?Game of Thrones?is vacant, and all the subsequent fantasy shows combined haven't been able to fill it. I think it'd have to be?House of the Dragon?that's done the best job so far. Even though season 2's responses were more mixed, it still feels like it has the highest all-around quality and the most consistently strong performances.
Which TV show should have ended after season 1?
There are some TV shows that should have ended with season 1, whether that's because they were so bad that they needed to finish, or because it made more sense for the story. I think that 13 Reasons Why should have finished with season 1. The following seasons diverted from the book, and while Hannah's trial was an intriguing extension, the show wasn't really about her anymore by the end.?
What's your theory on the marketing of Doctor Who's upcoming Christmas special?
I've noticed that in some of the posters and marketing material for this year's?Doctor Who?Christmas special, the episode is advertised as both "Joy to the World" and "Joy to the Worlds." Like many, I assumed this was a mistake at first, but comments from Moffat and Disney have suggested otherwise. We know the episode is set inside a time-traveling hotel, and dinosaurs will appear, so clearly the Doctor and Joy will be traveling across space, too. However, I think this is too obvious an answer, and I'm curious whether there's something else at play here.
What do you think is the pinnacle of Gen Z teen dramas?
Stranger Things, Riverdale and 13 Reasons Why were each released within a fairly short period of time, and, thanks to their popularity, are often considered the big three of Gen Z teen drama shows. However, with two already done and one about to enter its final season, what do you think could carry on the torch for the genre? Do you think the likes of?Euphoria?and Outer Banks?have enough juice in them to surpass their genre compatriots?
Is Tyler Hoechlin's Superman better than Henry Cavill's?
With Superman & Lois soon coming to an end, I have come to the realization that I enjoy Tyler Hoechlin's Man of Steel more than Henry Cavill's. The DC series has the same dramatic tone as Cavill's Superman appearances; however, it also allows plenty of times for Hoechlin to turn up the charm and deliver a pitch-perfect Clark Kent, which I don't think Cavill really got to do. At the end of the day, Hoechlin did a better job on both sides of the hero than Cavill for me.
