  • Inside Out 2 is just as amazing as Inside Out, which was an unexpectedly pleasant surprise. It is just as emotional as the first one and shares just as many valuable lessons and insights on growing up and managing and understanding your emotions as that film does.

  • While Inside Out 2 initially comes off as just a retread of the original film, it's quick to pivot into a wholly original story with even better lessons about growing up and mental health, all of which is wonderfully paired with some of Pixar's best visuals to date. It's a rare case of a sequel being just as good as the original, if not better, and it's easy to see why it's found so much success.

  • Wow that's good ? ? ? ? ? ?

    Anxiety is good ?

  • Inside Out 2 tackles the complexity of perfectionism and anxiety in a nuanced way that made me cry, especially the ending when she had a panic attack. My only disappointment is the fact that they didn't make Riley canonically LGBTQ+, choosing to engage in queerbaiting instead.

  • I like how the humour isn't just the random bits from the trailer like in lower-quality animation films (like some Illumination ones...). It is actually really funny for at least the whole first half of it.

But what makes it one of my favourite films is the emotional layer of it. It depicts anxiety in a very relatable and probably accurate way, which also resulted in the film claiming the spot of the film that made me cry the most haha. The relatability and compelling-ness of the emotional layer depends on your personal experience, probably, but I still think they nailed it.

Inside Out 2 is the sequel to the 2015 original film, which starred a young girl named Riley with a head full of emotions. - literally. With Amy Pohler as Joy, Bill Hader as fear, Mindy Kaling as Disgust, Phyllis Smith as Sadness, and Lewis Black as Anger, the all-star cast brought to life the emotions that adolescents face as they grow, change, and adapt to new situations. This sequel, currently in development, will bring Amy Pohler back as Joy, with Riley, now a teenager.
