Save Energy and Money in Your Home!
Did you know that the average American household spends $2200 a year in energy costs? Did you know that you could reduce that amount by up to 25% through energy conservation?
Here are some tips to help cut your household utility bills:
- Install a programmable thermostat to insure that your home is heated and cooled in the most efficient way possible. Some thermostats can even be controlled by your smartphone when you’re away.
- Turn off your electronics when you won’t be in the room. TV’s, DVD players, and stereo systems use power even when they are in standby mode. Plugging your lights and equipment into power strips makes it easy to turn everything off as you leave the room.
- Air dry your dishes instead of using the drying cycle of your dishwasher. Air dry clothes whenever possible. Use the moisture sensing option on your clothes dryer. Overdrying your clothes also adds needless wear and tear.
- Lower the thermostat on your water heater to 120°. Use low-flow showerheads and take shorter showers. Less water used means less water that needs to be heated.
